    No sound on 9.10

    Hi Guys

i have been happily using 8.04 for a few months when i noticed that the koala (9.10) has now been released, but no sooner did I upgrade I lost my audio.

I've tried playing films/music (through the audio jack on my PC) but there is no sound whatsoever. My speakers are fine (tested them), so I'm guessing the upgrade must have disabled the sound - I've checked to see if anything has been muted but no.

Has anyone else come across this issue or have some suggestions for a fix?

    Thanks
    Kel

    Could you post lspci's output?
    In case you don't know:
    - Go to Terminal (Applications->Accesories->Terminal).
    - Type "sudo lspci" (without quotes) and press ENTER.
    - Copy the output and paste it here.
    Coming soon, please be patient.

Ubuntu karmic 9.10 is very much in early development stages. In fact, there has has not even been an alpha release yet. So it is to be expected that things will break when you upgrade to it.

That been said, if you still want to run 9.10 and are having problems I suggest you check out the sub-forum specifically for people who are testing out the development release:
    http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=359

But if you want a stable system that works all the time, your best bet is to run one the versions of Ubuntu that is currently considered stable either 9.04 or 8.04LTS.

It is impossible to run it outside the terminal because of the environment variables, but couldnt you just add

    Code:
    exit
to the end of your file?

That's your audio card. Can you post the output of "sudo lsmod"?
