Sound is acting weird after latest updates.

Something went wrong with my sound after the last set of updates on 9.10. All my volume controls were reset to minimum. I ended up having to turn all of them all the way up to get any sound at all (the master control, the control in whatever application I'm using, and my speakers) and then I can still barely hear it and it's full of static. I've already tested the speakers - they're fine. I looked at the sound mixer, since that's what everyone says to do, but I'm not sure what everything on there means. I turned up the "CD" and the "Master" bars but that didn't help.

It's not as bad when I play a CD. It's still not very loud but it's not as staticky. Trying to play stuff on line is much worse.

EDIT: I found out what I had to do with the mixer was set everything to the top.

Yes, some devices need to be set around 70% or they wash out.
