Question Evolution-yahoo mail setup with freepops

Hi, I'm new to ubuntu forums, and have been using ubuntu for about a year now and using Maverick. I've been trying to setup my yahoo.ca account on evolution. I've installed the freepops package from the ubuntu software centre and have the pop3.yahoo.com for receiving and stmp.yahoo.com for sending messages. I keep getting the error message that says the connection timed out. I couldn't find a decent page of information, either because it told me to enter
    Code:
    sudo update-rc.d freepops default
(which gives me another error in terminal), or sent me to a yahoo geocities website, (which yahoo has deleted). Can you please explain another way to make yahoo mail work in evolution?

I do hope that you actually have smtp in your setup.

What do you mean? I have the yahoo stmp server there, and the sending settings are for stmp.

I am unsure what freepops is, but I do know that yahoo mail requires you to buy their plus service to get access to their pop and smtp servers, but by the name of freepops, I am sure you already knew that.

Well, Freepops allows you to access email in POP servers without paying http://www.freepops.org/en/ . I've installed Freepops updater from the software centre, but I can't connect to the servers. There is also ypops, but officialy make it for Windows http://ypopsemail.com/.

I "mean" that if you do not spell things correctly in your setup then they won't work.

I have checked, and all of it is spelled correctly. I wonder what the problem is. Is anyone here a freepops wizard and can explain how to run it and get it to work with Evolution?

there's a hack for yahoo, then you can enable the pop.

Thanks, but I changed the settings without Yahoo Asia: I just went and told yahoo to allow my mail to be POPed. Thank you once again!
