10.10 runs slow and jerky

Ubuntu 10.10 is like 10 times slower than 10.04 , what's going on ?!

I've installed the restricted nVidia drivers. I have an nVIDIA 250 GTS video card.

3.3 GHZ Dual-Core
2GB DDR2
10.04 ran like the wind. this is like... I can't put up with this, it's unbearable.

Update or fresh install?
Never did an ubuntu upgrade that resulted in a steady system.

Fresh. Fresher than this is impossible, full HDD format, fresh install, own root, home partitions, everything by the book. system runs awful.

yeah im having the same problem too when you was installing did it keep freezing ?

it juns runs very jerky. I mean I have input lag while typing... scrolling trough menus is a pain. it's like im back on my old 900 Mhz celeron.

Happened to me starting on Lucid.

I found that after I removed stuff such as Ubuntu One it fixed the problem.

Oh, God, please, not like Karmic Koala, where the boot regressed.
(And then Karmic Koala seeming to have more performance regressions with security updates!)

The slowness I had with Karmic Koala, made it so I couldn't wait long for Lucid Lynx!
