Skype in Lucid, works but can't see other person

I am working on an Acer Aspire 5515 laptop. Installed UE 2.7. Need Skype working. Webcam works fine. Audio works fine. When I connect to a video call, the person I am calling can hear and see me, but while I can hear them, I can't see them.

I am fresh out of ideas. Any help would be mighty appreciated.

Not trying to be funny, but perhaps it isn't your problem... ?

Do you have other video issues, or just this one with Skype.

I am calling a desktop computer with Windows 7. To test your hypothesis I just made a Skype call to someone else from that desktop and the call worked perfectly on both ends.

And as far as I can tell, I don't have any other video issues.

This is actualoly a Ubuntu killer. I am installing it for a customer who is paranoid of viruses, but absolutely needs Skype above all else. If I can't get this working I will have to resort to giving her a Microsoft OS. GOD FORBID! But I will have no choice. I always believed Ubuntu was the best when it came to detecting hardware, but all the issues I continue to have with webcams are really hard to ignore.
