Oh, sorry. To run Unity web player, must one download firefox for windows, install it with wine, then install the unity web player, and run it in wine, to play properly? Is that the way it should be done?

Has anyone got the Unity Web Player to work under wine yet?

In my case the page just sits there with no response form the Unity window.

I'm having a similar problem. Is Unity completely dependent on wine, when running on Ubuntu? Is there any way to recompile the web player for a web browser in Linux?

We don't have the source code so there's no way for any of us to do that. You would have to ask the company to port their player to linux.

The Unity player installed okay for me, but it doesn't seem to work (just a white rectangle where content should be).

Based on developer attitude regarding Linux... - we won't see unity3d on Linux anytime soon... The above topic (the one from official forum) is 3 years old and so far they didn't even take Linux in consideration... Back then even Windows was missing from their links, the authors being Mac Zealots - so Linux might need to Top Windows in the Desktop environment till we see that happening.

On the other hand, Linux has his share of capable people, I only wish they'd consider creating something similar. Why do Linux developers limit this part to "alternatives"... well, guess the answer is same as with other platforms "Profit".

Running Firefox 3.6.12 on Wine 1.3.5, standard settings, Ubuntu 10.04.
Installing UnityWebPlayer.exe works like a charm.

I tested with the Catnapped! game on http://www.catnapped.dk

It runs relatively smoothly, except when loading new scenes.
There are a few bugs: Some lights are missing, dynamic shadows are unsupported and the first level renders completely black (probably a malfunctioning shader).
