Is downgrading WINE a security Threat? Also, has anyone got Entropia Universe working

Over at :http://www.entropiaforum.com/forums/...ml#post2445853 It's suggested that the latest version of wine does NOT work with Entropia Universe and that downgrading to version 1.1.16 is the way to get it to work.

First - Is this right? Can anyone else verify that that version works?

Second - How do you downgrade?

Third- Is this safe? What security issues are there in downgrading WINE? This is a massively important question since Entropia Universe uses a "REAL CASH ECONOMY" - i.e. all assets in game have a real US Dollar value. If downgrading WINE causes the system to become a lot more open to hackers and things, downgrading won't be a real option.

If you want to download Entropia Universe to give it a try, it's at http://www.planetcalypso.com/download/ - it's free to download, and free to play on some levels (chats, gathering sweat, gathering other stuff like dung/stones), but to really get in to the good parts of the game requires a bit of money being put in to the game or a lot of time on your hand to gather the sweat, etc. in massive quantities to sell and make a few game dollars... (10 project entropia dollars = 1 US Dollar)

You can Completely Remove wine from your system, and got to winehq.org for an older version.

All versions of Wine have the same security risks, that is to say, the risk is extremely low, as long as Wine is configured properly.
