    backup Tomboy notes data

    //CLOSED

    an archived absolute beginner q ask how to make a copy of the tomboy notes data and the reply came back as, "They're in ~/.tomboy". that was in 2006.
    i'm running karmic, so maybe things have changed, but i don't have a ".tomboy" sub in my home folder. yes, i have enabled "show hidden files" and i can see other DOT sub-dirs such as .cache .config & .cups but not .tomboy.

    i'm currently using Back in Time, i would love to make it see the tomboy directory but i can't see how that can be done.

    Hi

    I would try re-installing Tomboy as you should have a .tomboy hidden file in your home folder.

    smeg !

    ok, i'll do that and get back but, just so we are clear, i didn't install tomboy.
    it was just there when my karmic install finished.
    i simply started to use it.

    will a re-install destroy the existing notes i have already made?

    Double Smeg

    I have just had a route through my .tomboy file and in there is a note telling me that in the latest version the notes are moved to:

    /.local/share/tomboy

    Hope this helps

    I was a bit confused by the path : for me it's actually $HOME/.local/share/tomboy

    But thanks for the tip!
