[gnome] Re: Gnome 3 Window manager "crash" - Oneiric

Happening here as well. Less common after I uninstalled the auto-move-workspace extension, but still happens and it's totally random.

I wasn't even at my computer when it just crashed Gnome Shell,...

Was this the only screenlet you were running? Now that you mention it, i was running screenlets as well. But not this particular one, only Calendar and Weather.

[ubuntu] Re: Choppy video in Maverick

I've also confirmed this on my machine, without Avant running. I hate problems like this. Lacking common identifier, no bug report to file... argh!

[ubuntu] Re: 10.10 runs slow and jerky

The only work-around I've found useful on my machine (slow keyboard buffer, video artifacts, dropped frames in video) is to turn off compisiting... using Metacity isn't enough, because Metacity is...

[ubuntu] Re: Choppy video in Maverick

You sure metacity isn't doing any compositing?

In gconf-editor, under "apps" > "metacity" > 'compositing_manager'. Should be disabled.

[ubuntu] Re: Choppy video in Maverick

Disabling composition helped. Seems to point to X11 composite rendering or graphic drivers.

Edit: I do not consider this a solution. Just a work-around until the cause can be found.

Running on i5-750, 8G ram, nvidia 260gtx after upgrade from Lucid, symptoms follow:

  10. [ubuntu] Re: [maverick] Random stuttering video/audio when mouse NOT moving

Experiencing this as well. Appears to be everything in X11 though. Typing sometimes slow as well.

The only processing consuming unusually much CPU is xorg

[SOLVED] Re: Rythmbox - Karmic 9.10

    Sigh, how was it fixed?

This is the most annoying thing anyone can do in a support forum, post a problem that others have and then just say "fixed" without sharing the solution.

    [ubuntu] Re: Installing TinyXP

Get a pre-tiny version of Windows XP off the net or simply install Windows in a VirtualBox (or VMware), install tinyxp and take it from there.
  14. [ubuntu] Re: Pulseaudio suddenly defaults to Mute when rebooting/startup

There's no alsa-utils in my "bum" (insert lame joke here) (Bootup Manager).

I like Ubuntu as much as the next guy but these constant changes in the sound systems are starting to annoy me.
