    Hi all,

Having some major issues with networking on a fresh Ubuntu 10.10 install. Whenever I try to access the Windows Network I get the error message:

  2. [ubuntu] Re: Disable laptop sleep when closing display?

This thread seems to answer part of the problem: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=293883

The first part works perfectly, but when I use gedit to make the script it doesn't work. There's no...

Re: 10.10 Netbook Edition missing the point?

I don't have a netbook, but I do have an ageing Dell laptop (Inspiron 1300) that I've been using Ubuntu Netbook Edition with since 9.04. I found 10.10 to be almost unbearably slow, but tried booting...

[ubuntu] Re: 10.10 runs slow and jerky

Well it seems that the performance issues I've been having are not related to those that most people here are having. Mine seem to be entirely related to the new Netbook Edition interface. Tried the...

Re: 10.10 Netbook Edition missing the point?

I have to agree. Unity is simply not ready, which is a shame; as a proof-of-concept it's great and shows real promise, but as a shipping product it's a dismal failure. A lot of the performance issues...

Had exactly this problem with Chrome and other apps too. Seemed to resolve itself after clearing caches and rebooting, except for Adobe AIR apps, which still don't want to play with the Launcher.

[ubuntu] Re: 10.10 runs slow and jerky

Okay, just tried browsing my home LAN and however bad my performance has been to date, when I've been limiting myself to setting up my laptop, is as NOTHING compared to how bad this thing handles...

[ubuntu] Re: 10.10 runs slow and jerky

Do you know if there's a similar fix for Intel GMA 900 video? I'm using Ubuntu Netbook Edition on a Dell Inspiron 1300 (1.6GHz Pentium-M, 2GB 533MHz DDR2, 915GM chipset).

[ubuntu] Re: 10.10 runs slow and jerky

Having exactly the same problem. Was running 10.04 Netbook Edition on an older 1.6GHz Dell and found it to be nice and responsive; clean install to 10.10 and it's slow and jerky. Reminds me of the...
