If gshutdown doesn't halt your computer, you have two solutions :

- Recompile gshutdown from the source using the development version (until the next release)
- run gshutdown as root :...

No :). gshutdown doesn't use by default the shutdown command.
gshutdown doesn't need to be run as root.

GShutdown is an utility which allow you to shutdown, reboot and logout by setting a date or a countdown. Even it has been developed using Gtk+, it's independent from the GNOME's libraries...

It's very easy. (I've just found an example : http://www.jalug.org/Members/pigeonflight/blog/poedit-translations/ )

You don't need any coding knowledge.

It's very short : near 100 strings (with an average of 5 words by string)
